The Kispiox Valley

The Kispiox Valley is a rural community of around 200 folks who live, work, grow, gather and play along the Kispiox River on Gitxsan Lax̱yip in northwest BC Canada.

Our diverse range livelihoods ensure a resilient local economy; we are resource workers, educators, health care professionals, office workers, mechanics, builders, ranchers, retirees, and a wide range of entrepreneurs.

The Kispiox Valley Community Centre Association (KVCCA) stewards the Community Centre Hall and Grounds at the heart of our valley, supporting and hosting a wonderful and diverse array of social, recreational, cultural, and entertainment events, and is the collective voice of our community.

The Kispiox Valley Declaration is an expression of our values and commitments.

The Kispiox Valley Community Centre is at the Heart of our Valley

Our Hall and Grounds are the hub of year-round community events and private functions in the valley, including our annual New Year’s dance, Robbie Burns or Valentine’s night, Easter event, Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast, Summer Reading Club for youth, Halloween event, and Christmas celebration.  We hold movie nights, games nights, talent shows and music nights; host martial arts classes and pickle ball games, environmental and political meetings, open houses, workshops, and functions.

Do you have a wedding, party, ball room dancing festival, staff function, workshop or other event coming up?

Our Community Grounds are host to two major annual events:

Established in 1947, ‘The Biggest Little Rodeo in the West’, welcomes nearly 1,500 local and visiting spectators and participants, who camp on the Grounds, dance in the Hall, and partake of a pancake breakfast.

The Rodeo is held the first weekend in June, and is organized by the Kispiox Valley Rodeo Club.

The Kispiox Valley Music Festival has gained a solid reputation as a family music festival since its formation in 1995, and offers a great program of musical variety and superb hospitality.  It is rated highly in music festival circles across Canada, has been featured in the media, and has become a much sought after venue for musicians.  The Music Festival welcomes an audience of approximately 2,000 people each year.

The Festival takes place the last weekend in July, and is organized by the Kispiox Valley Music Festival Society.
